Training

New members would normally attend our Saturday and Sunday evening training sessions initially. We have the use of all six lanes on both of these evenings so we can cater for a wide range of abilities. These sessions run from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Our youngest members would be typically 7 or 8 years of age but we have had some younger. Children should be able to swim at least 25m on front crawl and backstroke before joining the Club.

As swimmers advance in stamina and strength and as their techniques improve they are encouraged to attend some of our other sessions. As we only have the use of two lanes at these times we cannot cater for as many as we would like to.

Please note the following:

1. Membership is €100 for one child or €150 for a family membership. The Club season typically lasts from mid September until the end of June each year.
2. Swimmers must pay €5 each time they attend Club sessions.
3. Tuam Swimming Club is a ‘not for profit’ organisation. None of the Club’s teachers, coaches or officers is paid anything for the work they do. They do this work voluntarily to promote swimming in the Tuam area.
4. The highest standards of behaviour and co-operation are expected from swimmers at all times.
